Are you perhaps a bit of a perfectionist about having everything neat and organized? Do you get excited by the thought of skipping around town shopping for a list of items – filling your cart to the brim at the local discount store? Does a Friday afternoon drive from Charlottetown to Tignish sound like a nice way to end the week? If so, you might be just the person we are looking for this summer!
STEAM PEI is looking for a Summer Camp Logistics Intern to work with our STEAM Team to ensure the summer camps at various locations across PEI have all the supplies and equipment they need each week. This position will involve supporting the STEAM PEI summer camps by helping to prepare and organize materials, purchasing consumable items with the company credit card, and delivering materials to the camps.
From June 24 to August 30, for an average of 30 hours a week, this will be a full-time position. Hours are as required to complete the tasks with some flexibility. Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays would be the busiest days.
Compensation is $15/hour and could lead towards future summer positions as a STEAM PEI Summer Camp Facilitator or Camp Leader if that is something you find interesting. Your travel would be compensated at a rate equivalent to the provincial government mileage rate at the time. You will be an instrumental part of making a smooth summer for the STEAM Team staff and students and you will contribute to the success of future generations of Islanders by helping build STEAM on PEI!
STEAM PEI will have camps in Charlottetown, Summerside and occasionally West Prince and Kings county. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is a must. Great organizational skills, clear communication and some experience with Google Sheets would also be ideal.
Diversity of perspective, including diversity of people, knowledge and cultures is important to us. We strive to provide a safe, highly inclusive, welcoming environment where everyone feels a sense of acceptance and belonging. Experience working with BIPOC and/or gender diverse students is also a plus for us!
STEAM PEI is a non-profit organization, with its home base at 8 Stan MacPherson Way in Downtown Charlottetown. STEAM PEI’s mission is to inspire young Islanders to pursue learning and careers in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) fields by fostering their curiosity and confidence through engaging experiential learning opportunities. STEAM PEI strives to reach youth all across PEI, with a special focus on girls, Indigenous youth, and youth from low socio-economic backgrounds who are traditionally under-represented in STEM fields.
