STEAM PEI

YOU:

Are you a content creator? Savvy with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube? Have a passion for science, technology, engineering, art and/or math? Enjoy video and photo editing? Like getting creative with digital art and graphic design? Share your Awesomeness with us!

THE OPPORTUNITY:

STEAM PEI is looking for a motivated and creative student to join our team as a Social Media Specialist for the summer.  You will be responsible for developing and executing social media strategies that align with our brand and business goals. You will work closely with our marketing team to create engaging content, optimize company pages, and foster community interaction.

From June 24th to August 30, for an average of 30 hours a week, this will be a full-time position to work with our marketing team, creating engaging content. The hours of work are flexible, but we would like you to visit our camps and hang out in the Makerspace to capture some live action shots.

Hey, if you’ve been to a STEAM PEI camp in your younger days, let us know! This could be the next great step in your STEAM journey. Compensation is $15/hour for a high school student, $16/hour for returning students and can lead towards future part-time or full-time positions at STEAM PEI. You’ll learn from, and be mentored by a team of STEAM professionals, and work alongside some pretty awesome STEAM post-secondary students. The real reward is growing the STEAM community on PEI, so let’s light up those Likes and Shares!!

THE SKILLS:

Show us what you’ve got! We’d love to see the content you’ve created. Experience with Canva, and the Adobe software suite would be ideal. Great oral and written communication skills are key, as are proper English and grammar, and attention to detail. After all, it wouldn’t look so good if an educational organization were publishing content with spelling mistakes. Also bonus if you know French, so we can post in both official languages!

A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is not mandatory, but would be an asset. Your travel would be compensated at a rate equivalent to the provincial government mileage rate at the time.

An interest in science, technology, engineering, art, and/or math would also be nice. You definitely need to be comfortable and willing to try new things and continue your own learning as we like to stay on the cutting edge.

Diversity of perspective, including diversity of people, knowledge and cultures is important to us. We strive to provide a safe, highly inclusive, welcoming environment where everyone feels a sense of acceptance and belonging. Experience working with BIPOC and/or gender diverse students is also a plus for us!
