Under the direction of Chef Michael Smith and Chastity Smith, we offer a five-star inn and dining room seating up to 86 guests at our nightly FireWorks Feast from May to October. Our ingredients are sourced from our on-site culinary farm and other local producers. Together with our farm, we create a ten-course, live-fire-cooked, Island-focused experience.

  • Job Location: Fortune, Prince Edward Island
  • Work Conditions: Two multi-storey inn buildings with a combination of indoor and outdoor staircases, no elevators. Air-conditioned rooms and hotel lobbies.
  • Work Term: Part-time to full-time seasonal (start immediately and end mid-October)
  • Schedule: Morning, day, and/or evening shifts, 8-9 hours per day. Starting at approximately 3 shifts per week, then in August, increase to 5 shifts per week.
  • Starting Salary: $19.25 per hour
  • Health Benefits: 50% employer paid: Life Insurance, Health Insurance, Extended Health Insurance, Dental & Vision Care, available after your first season of employment.
  • Other Benefits: 4% vacation pay. Complimentary staff meals every morning and afternoon during your working hours. Compensation for the purchase of required footwear, up to $50.00 every two years.

 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Guest Services Manager, you will:

  1. Greet guests with a positive attitude and friendly demeanour, in keeping with our five-star hospitality standards.
  2. Answer phone calls and emails daily.
  3. Anticipate guests’ needs and ensure each stay is five-star quality.
  4. Manage guest bookings for the Inn and the Dining Room, and process room charges.
  5. Ensure the reception areas are tidy and welcoming.
  6. Assist the Housekeeping department by performing light cleaning duties.
  7. Perform administrative and clerical tasks as needed.
  8. Transportation of “Inn Room Dining” food items as well as chauffeur services between the two properties, which are separated by a few hundred metres on Route 310 (The Inn at Bay Fortune and The Inn at Fortune Bridge).

Qualifications

Education

  • Responsible Beverage Server certification.
  • Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary education in hospitality or a related field is an asset.

Experience

  • Previous experience working in the guest services department of a four-or five-star hotel is an asset.
  • Experience using hotel reservation systems is an asset.
  • On-the-job training will be provided.

  • Strong customer service/hospitality skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must demonstrate an eagerness to learn and work hard.
  • Punctual; communicates appropriately with supervisor if absent or arriving late for a shift.
  • Good organizational capabilities, time management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working alone or in teams of two.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
