The main objective of the lifeguard at the Victoria Park Pool will be to facilitate safe and enjoyable aquatic experiences for the residents of the City of Charlottetown.


· Pool safety is priority number one, and every lifeguard must ensure the facility and their behavior on duty is appropriate to meet the high safety standards expected. Maintain order and discipline by ensuring pool rules are followed.
· Follow the lifeguard rules and responsibilities policy, this must be signed by every lifeguard at the start of the summer. Ensure uniforms are always worn while on duty.
· Rescue Operations: Being prepared to respond immediately to emergencies by performing water rescues, administering first aid, and providing CPR if necessary.
· Preventative Measures: Proactively take steps to prevent accidents by conducting safety checks of equipment and facilities, ensuring proper signage is in place, and educating patrons about water safety.                                                                                                                                                      

· Maintain good public relations with participants, parents, fellow employees and to be supportive of the Charlottetown Parks and Recreation Department and its programs.
· Keeping a daily logbook (issues/concerns, actions taken etc.), and notifying the lifeguard supervisor of any incidents or emergencies that occur. Complete an incident form and ensure supervisors are notified of the incident in a timely manner.


· Must have recently updated National Lifeguard Certification.
· Previous working experience as a lifeguard is an asset.
· Strong leadership and communication skills are required.
· Basic CPR (Level C) and Standard First Aid (training provided).
· Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Hourly Wage:  $18.90 – 40 hours per week

Victoria Park Pool will be open seven days a week from 10:00am – 7:50pm. Staff work a rotating schedule to ensure adequate coverage.
