POSITION SUMMARY:

The Tapui’tjitja’amitj (Two-Spirit) project will strengthen the connection to, and inclusion of 2SLGBTQQIA+ (2S+) peoples living off-reserve on Prince Edward Island through the development and delivery of community-based, culturally appropriate supports and outreach activities. The project will focus on promoting positive mental well-being through increasing the capacity of NCPEI program staff by providing Mental Health First Aid (First Nations) and Gender Based Violence training to all NCPEI staff.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Public and community outreach and education sessions highlighting the historic role of 2S+ peoples in Indigenous culture as well as current issues.
• Referral to NCPEI and community programs to provide wrap around supports as needed.
• Gather information from program partners to update the existing 2S+ Resource Guide and Information book.
• Quarterly land-based teachings, and/or healing circles, and/or talking circles based on needs of participants and provided by Elders.
• Plan and Organize events for Pride week.
• Facilitate training, including Mental Health First AID and Gender Based Violence training, to increase the capacity of NCPEI staff.
• Creation and distribution of promotional material and resource manual.
• Prepare reports on the progress and delivery of program.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Post-secondary education/training or work in a related field.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Indigenous community.
• Knowledge of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and familiar with two-spirited people.
• Valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Vulnerable sector check
