JA (Junior Achievement) Prince Edward Island

JA (Junior Achievement) Prince Edward Island is part of an international, non-profit organization dedicated to educating youth on work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through a variety of programs offered to Island students. As a youth-based organization, JA Prince Edward Island values creativity, energy and enthusiasm. Our organization provides participants a chance to enjoy an enriching experience that positively impacts our local youth along with the ability to build strong connections within our business and education community. 

The Program Assistant position is responsible for working with the JA staff to ensure that the program delivery goals of our organization are fulfilled for the 2022/23 school year. The candidate selected for this position will be able to deliver JA curriculum (programs) to classes across PEI in elementary, intermediate and high schools, and assist with program coordination activities.

Duties:

– Deliver JA programs to students from grades 3-12 
– Attend networking events to help promote JA programs and recruit volunteers
– Collaborate with staff to plan and organize events for students
– Assist the program staff with the delivery of volunteer recruitment presentations to local businesses and organizations
– Assist program staff with the coordination of screening and training volunteers under JA Canada’s National Screening Protocol for the delivery of programs
– Assist program staff with the coordination of volunteers and teachers for presentations and ensure that all parties have the necessary tools to complete the program deliveries
– Collect data for program staff that aids in the completion of monthly, quarterly and yearly reports 
– A variety of other duties as required

Education & Skill Requirements:

– The successful candidate must have post-secondary education
– Education and experience in the fields of Business, Commerce or Education would be an asset
– Must be comfortable working with youth of all ages. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with youth, especially in a classroom setting
– Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite
– Must have excellent organization, problem solving and time management skills
– Outgoing personality with strong relationship management skills, including the ability to establish and maintain relationships with a wide range of individuals 
– Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a small team to achieve results
– Highly self-motivated, with the ability to work under minimal supervision
– Excellent presentation and communication skills (written and oral proficiency in English is required)
– The successful candidate must own a reliable vehicle, and a hold a valid driver’s license, as travel will be required across the province. Mileage will be paid for travel outside of Charlottetown
– The successful candidate must undergo a Criminal Record Check including a vulnerable sector search
– The successful candidate must meet EI eligibility

This is a full time, contract position for the length of the school year, running from September to June, 2024.
