Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce

The Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dedicated Membership Coordinator. This role is responsible for planning and organizing events, boosting membership experience, and supporting social media development and general admin. The Membership Coordinator must be comfortable planning events with a variety of sizes and purposes, as they are responsible for every aspect of event management from choosing venues to measuring effectiveness post event.

A supporting attribute of the Membership Coordinator is a strong aptitude for social media. This includes managing social media including: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linked-in, Snapchat, TikTok or other platforms as may be required. The ideal candidate should be well-organized and possess excellent communication and attention to detail, have strong financial management skills, be self-directed and confidently assertive enough to find solutions to challenges. Membership Coordinator is a core area of funding for the not-for-profit Summerside Chamber of Commerce, as such experience with event management, budget management, time management and coordination with various stakeholders is a critical asset. In addition an aptitude for researching, writing report managing is a crucial skill.

This role will involve ongoing Membership outreach, and being a general leader for organizations outside the Summerside Chamber and the skills the successful candidate will bring to the role could expand beyond the scope of the Summerside Chamber. Additional administrative support functions may be required in conjunction with event management and these tasks will vary based on the needs of the Chamber. Reporting will be to the Executive Director of the Summerside Chamber of Commerce and indirectly the board.

General duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conceiving, developing, and envisioning new events, and coordinating traditional Chamber events.
  • Ensure events align with and are executed within the Chamber’s strategic objectives.
  • Managing every aspect of event planning such as selecting venues, determining the cost, arranging event services, negotiating discounts, coordinating partners, and monitoring approvals.
  • Membership outreach.
  • Membership onboarding.
  • Liaising with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Managing membership operations and activities.
  • Attending events to supervise and ensure as aspects execute as planned.
  • Ensuring profitability, including coordination of fee collection and payment of invoices.
  • Think creatively and strategically to increase revenue possibilities, including working with/ for other related partners and groups.
  • Developing and fostering relationships with the community, stakeholders, and other entities, including government to foster business success.
  • Facilitating cooperation and meetings among the Chamber and members.
  • Maintaining thorough knowledge of the business area, and recommendations on how to avoid common challenges or resolve problems.
  • Working with the Chamber team or membership to proactively solve issues.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and utilizing data and feedback to identify opportunities to improve business environment for the chamber, municipality, or provincial government.
  • Acting as a positive representative of the Chamber to the community.
  • Work with the Executive Director to achieve Chamber objectives.
  • Provide regular reporting and updates on activities.
  • Adapt to all requirements as necessary for the Chamber to operate and support its membership.

Job Requirements

  • Ideally 2 years of experience with Event Coordination.
  • A mindset to see opportunity greater than the role offered.
  • A commitment to executing engaging (and profitable) events.
  • Connection to the community, stakeholders, and business members.
  • Post-secondary education in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, Business (OR relevant experience).
  • Experience working with budgets.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work with a variety of people and personalities.

 

Hours: 37.5 hours a week (Monday – Friday)
