The Controller leads the financial function for both Upstreet Craft Brewing and Libra Beverage Co. The position is responsible for all financial aspects of both corporations, working with managers, external accountants, and owners to forecast, track and analyze the companies’ financial performance. This includes managing the annual financial and cash flow forecast, providing weekly & monthly reports to managers and owners, developing and maintaining an internal control environment and overseeing the day-to-day financial operations. As the Controller, you are a self-starter and able to adapt to change quickly; we need you to be able to think outside the box. In addition, you will work closely with other departments as a leadership team member and provide financial insight into operations, analysis, and strategic decisions.

Practically speaking, you will:

Oversee all financial operations for both Upstreet and Libra and report to the Chief Operating Officer.

Primary Responsibilities:

Oversee all financial operations of both Upstreet and Libra, including:

  • Develop and maintain an internal control environment
  • Manage A/R and A/P to ensure timely payments of suppliers and reception of payments from customers
  • Work with managers to ensure payroll is processed, remittances are paid, and all required forms are processed
  • Prepare and distribute month- and year-end reports to managers and owners
  • Work with external accountants to prepare and file year-end tax reports

Provide financial leadership and analysis to Upstreet & Libra, including:

  • Led the annual financial and cash flow forecast
  • Engage with managers regarding strategic plan execution
  • Identify and communicate concerns, potential issues, and recommendations on strategic decisions
  • Seek efficiency improvement opportunities and plan implementation with the COO Lead
  • B-Corporation certification process and work with CEO & COO to implement improvements

Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or working towards designation
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of standard accounting standards, principles, procedures, tax laws, and reporting requirements
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheet programs and applications
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Excellent communication skills, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and healthy conflict-resolution skills
  • Analytical skills related to manufacturing and marketing

The Details

Your typical schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-4:30 pm, for approximately 40 hours a week. However, there is some flexibility surrounding start and end times. Upstreet Craft Brewing offers a competitive salary between $60,000 and $70,000 and an attractive benefits package (including health, dental, and vision care),
